Sustainable Beauty Brands in the Philippines

By Simplified by Dub - August 08, 2019

I've been using cruelty-free beauty products for more than a year now. Since I slowly embraced a more sustainable lifestyle, I searched for several months sustainable and local beauty brands to support. So far, I have used quite a few and I thought I'd share it to you guys who are wanting to do the shift as well.

1. Paraluman PH sells locally handmade products, sourced from different parts of the Philippines. They support small business owners, local farmers and local artisans. Some of their proceeds even go to local charities. They sell shampoo, conditioner and feminine wash bars, bamboo toothbrushes, menstrual cups, coconut fiber dish brushes, bamboo cutlery and more! If you are trying to live a plastic-free lifestyle, then Paraluman PH is perfect for you.

2. Human Nature commits to help our countrymen overcome poverty by teaming up with an army of brilliant social entrepreneurs from all over the nation to create cruelty-free, vegan and pro-environment products for the face, body and home. Not only are their products very effective, you could also bring your empty containers to the store. Turned over bottles will be upcycled for different arts and crafts activities. They are also refilling stations for laundry detergents and dishwashing liquids in their Commonwealth and SM North branches. They've got everything. They have facial washes, toners, mouthwash, deodorants, dish washing liquid, essential oils, tea, peanut spreads, and more! They don't wrap their products with plastic, but do bring your bags with you when you purchase something!

3. Apotheke Science Philippines handcrafts skincare products with the finest, safest ingredients. Their products protect your skin against outside irritants, slow down the effects of aging, and rescue your skin from acne, redness, scars, eczema, puffiness and itchiness. They also have a bottle recycling program where you can send your empty bottles to Green Antz to be repurposed as building material. The only downside I see from them is that though their boxes are made of cardboard, they wrap their products with plastic :(

4. Aromacology is a sustainable beauty brand from Davao that offers a wide-array of skincare products which are designed to fit Asians'sensitive skin. Their products are carefully crafted from all natural-based raw materials like herbs, flower, and fruit extracts. They sell soaps, hair treatments, deodorants, healing oils, and more!

5. Zero Basics sells vegan products for your face and body - zero waste style! They sell face wash, toners, serums, tooth powders, insect repellent and more!
