Congresswoman Stella Quimbo, brilliant economist, shares with us her thoughts on why she created a data-driven stimulus plan for our economy. “Thinking about all the small businesses out there whose operations and sales have been disrupted by COVID...what happens to them in the “P.C.” (post COVID) world? Will they have enough working capital left after shouldering all overhead expenses including payroll despite not having sales during the lockdown? Will they be strong enough to think about re-training and re-tooling their staff and revising their business strategies? Will they have the capacity to shoulder the additional health-related spending of the business? I propose that government should help businesses get re-started P.C. , so workers can keep their jobs. Government should boost their liquidity through subsidies and interest-free loans. Through grants, government should help businesses help themselves as they think of ways to move forward P.C.” #FlattenTheCurveNotTheEconomy #kaayomodernmindanao #carryyourculture
