When I started going sustainable and low waste, my first target was changing the products of my bath routine. I have been using these products for quite a while and if you are trying to do the switch or simply finding the products that would work for you, this post would be perfect for you.
Shampoo Bar. I've been using a shampoo bar that I bought from our city's local zero waste store. It is super affordable and doesn't make my hair dry.
Bath Soap. The bath soap that I have been using was a gift from a friend.
Feminine Wash Bar from Paraluman PH which is very handy when traveling and effective during red days.
Soap Dish. I got this soap dish online which has been a great tool to dry my bar products. It is sustainably and locally made.
Benefits of Solid Products:
- plastic free,
- 1 bar = 3 bottles of product,
- travel-friendly,
- simple ingredients, and
- you get to support local stores
Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse is an alternative to conditioners and it is composed of 1/3 apple cider vinegar and 2/3 water in a spray bottle. ACV Hair Rinse helps with tangled and frizzy hair, decreases dandruff, unclog the hair follicles which may help with excess shedding or hair loss and a great pair when using shampoo bars.
Safety Razor. I got this safety razor from Paraluman PH. The blades are recyclable, less to zero plastic waste, gives a closer shave than disposable shavers in the market and saves you a lot of money in the long run since you will own one for life (if you properly care for it). Plus, I have never experienced a cut from this safety razor.
Micro fiber cloth for exfoliation. I know this isn't the most eco-friendly option but I've been using this for quite a while (before I went sustainable and plastic-free). If this is no longer usable I would then opt for a loofah.
Bamboo Toothbrush. Its been months since I started using a bamboo toothbrush that I got from a local zero waste store. Once the toothbrush has to be changed with a new one, I would use it as a planter label for my small garden.
Human Nature Natural Toothpaste. I haven't embraced a zero waste option for toothpaste as of the moment since I still have my braces on. But I have been using the Human Nature Natural Toothpaste since it is free from harmful chemicals, effectively removes stain & food debris and prevents plaque and tartar buildup. I would keep the empty packaging and return it to Human Nature for recycling.
Deodorant. I used to make a DIY deodorant before, my arm pits didn't smell but it began darkening even at the first day of use. It was a struggle to find the product that would suit me and after months of searching I finally found a sustainable option. I use the sustainable brand Aromacology's Deo Mist as it prevents body odor and whitens my underarms in time.
Reusable Menstrual Cloth Pads (Charcoal). I have talked more about my first experience here.
I don't use toilet paper. We have a bidet beside our toilet and I plan to buy a portable bidet in a few months which would be handy when traveling.
